Christ Community Church
Prayer Team Letter
December 6, 2004
Each week we focus on one missionary in prayer. This week our focus is on:
Pregnancy Crisis Center
All of us at The Pregnancy Crisis Center– including our mothers and babies wish you the love, peace, and happiness that the true meaning of Christmas brings. We thank you for having given so faithfully and generously of your prayers, time, money, supplies, and workmanship over the years. Every day we are privileged to help make a positive difference in each life we touch. How very blessed we are, and you contribute much to that!
We are a non-denominational, non-political counseling/referral center of volunteers. Some are doctors, nurses, teachers, social workers, secretaries, housewives, mothers, and grandmothers available daily to help the needs of women with planned and unplanned pregnancies starting with free pregnancy tests. All 20 of us, board members and counselors are active volunteers. We have one employee– our office manager.
December marks the end of our 16th year! We look back on those years with awe and wonder at our miracles great and small. At this time we would like to share with you some of the activities of the past 12 month period– November 2003 to October 2004:
To you, who are hearing from us for the first time, we welcome you aboard and hope that you too will remember us with your prayers and contributions. We are not sponsored by any local, state, or federal fund, but by you individually and by churches in the area.
For those with positive pregnancy tests, we can and do assist with referral for early and continuous medical care and counseling, food, shelter, clothing, education, and adoption. For those with negative results, we offer counseling that includes information on the health hazards one could be facing.
Statistics from Volusia County Health Department show a marked increase in the number of sexually transmitted diseases, especially in syphilis and gonorrhea. An ongoing concern of ours is the number of young teens and pre-teens we see as young as 11 years old, who test negative for pregnancy but are sexually active and totally unaware of the consequences until counseled by us and given factual information.
A special thanks to our advisory board– Dr. John White, Tina Favis, and Diane vanWert. Also, a special thanks to Volusia County Heath Department and Halifax Hospital Family Health Center for their years of pre and post natal care. And last, but by no means least, a very special thanks to our Heavenly Father, without whose constant love and guidance we could not survive. We thank Him for allowing us to be a part of this wonderful ministry. We are truly blessed!
