As we sat in the GSU campus share time the last night of our annual Christmas Conference in Atlanta, Chris and I were encouraged to hear what the Lord had shown many of the 70 GSU students. Several of them shared specific ways they want to minister to the students around them. One girl, Susie, desires to move into her sorority house for this purpose. A couple of athletes, from the football and soccer teams shared that the Lord has put them there for a reason and they want to reach out to and share Christ with their teammates. Another student, Meredith, is planning to move back into the dorm as a way to meet and minister to other
students. We are thankful for the burden the Lord is giving these students for their fellow classmates and pray that He will use them to reach many more college students with the gospel of Christ. Please pray with us that the Lord will protect and grow these students up in him and build them into godly men and women and laborers for Christ’s Kingdom.
Although most of the students who attended the conference were Christians, at least two GSU students became Christians during the conference, please be in prayer for their growth and protection and for the many other students from the 38 campuses that attended who became Christians as well.
Another highlight of the conference was having students from Macon area schools attend for the first time. We began a ministry there last year but none of the students were able to attend the ’05 conference. This year, though, 10 students from Macon came! They are growing quickly as a ministry and have over 50 students attending a weekly Bible study at a coffee shop in Macon. It was great for some of the student leaders to be able to go to ATL ’06 and take this unique opportunity to be fed and encouraged in their walks with Christ.
Classes started January 8th and we are gearing up for the semester as a ministry as well. Chris just returned from a GSU football meeting-he will continue his chaplain duties with the team during the spring. He has enjoyed this role and will continue helping lead a weekly team Bible study and meeting one on one with guys who want to investigate Christianity. Please pray with us that as these men are confronted with the truth of the gospel, Christ will penetrate their hearts and they will repent and turn to Him. We are expecting our second child, a boy, next month! We are so thankful for a healthy pregnancy so far and looking forward to welcoming this little one into our family. Please be in prayer for his health and delivery. The due date is February 11th.
For His Glory,
Cary and Chris
